Iranian ‘Elders’ to compete at Chinese fest

Iranian ‘Elders’ is to compete at the 11th Macau Int’l Short filmfest in China.

Iranian short flick ‘Elders’ has been selected to compete at the 11th edition of the Macau International Short Film Festival (SiC) in China.

Co-directed by Parisa Sedaee-Azar and Ramin Farzaneh, the 18-minute film is about a 70-year-old man, named Kazem, who plans to run away from a nursing facility.

The actors in the short include Kazem Hashemzadeh, Malakeh Fathi, and Mahsa Sedaee-Azar.

The short flick has previously won the Diploma of the Audiences Sympathy at the 10th Baku International Short Film Festival in Azerbaijan and the Special Jury Prize at the 3rd International Siirt Short Film Festival in Turkey.

It is also competing at the 2020 Exground Film Festival, currently underway online from Germany.

According to the Macau filmfest’s official website, “it awards the best short films in Fiction, Documentary, and Animation worldwide, motivating local productions and encouraging overseas productions to compete in Macau."

The event, previously known as Sound & Image Challenge International Festival, is slated for December 1-8, 2020.
